Partners in Caring Awards Gala Raises More Than $475,000
This year's Partners in Caring Awards Gala was certainly a night to remember! Over 400 guests came to the Pierre in Midtown to support The Bridge and to celebrate the accomplishments of our three honorees -- Joseph A. Dussich, Jr., Gaston Silva, and Andrew Solomon (pictured bottom right). The night included a cocktail hour followed by dinner and a silent auction of artwork created in The Bridge's art therapy program (with proceeds going to the client artists). This gala was our most successful yet, raising more than $475,000 for The Bridge's services, including $13,000 specially earmarked for our veteran's program through donations made at the dinner.

Many thanks to everyone who supported this year's event, and to our Gala Co-Chairs for planning an amazing evening: Joseph Dussich, Jr., Albert E. Mayas, Howard Rothschild, Steve Sonitis, Cynthia C. Wainwright, and Glenn Weiss
Volunteers Spruce up Outdoor Spaces at Bridge Residences
Just in time for summer, two volunteer groups stopped by to plant flowers and spruce up the yards of two of our residences!
Goldman Sachs Community TeamWorks Volunteers at our 111th Street Residence and Urban Farm

In May, a volunteer team from Goldman Sachs Community TeamWorks spent a day at our 111th Street Residence and Urban Farm. The volunteers were a huge help in planting flowers, mulching plant beds, and trimming hedges. By the end of the day, the yard and farm looked better than ever, with a beautiful new garden area for clients to enjoy. The volunteers also made a healthy salad, as part of a lunch they shared with the tenants who live at the residence.
Home Depot Volunteers at our Bridge Gardens Veterans Residence in the Bronx

Then in June, 24 volunteers from Home Depot, District D212 Metro NY with Captain Jimmy Runco, came to Bridge Gardens, our veterans housing program in the Bronx, to plant flowers and shrubs. They even brought tomato plants, so the tenants can start their own vegetable garden! In addition to donating the plants, Home Depot also very generously donated a lawn mower and some outdoor furniture, so the residents can spend summer days relaxing in their beautiful outdoor space.  After a hard day's work, volunteers, staff, and tenants did just that, holding a celebratory barbecue in the backyard.

A big thank you to all of our volunteers and to Goldman Sachs and Home Depot, both of which are long-time partners of The Bridge.
Bridge Clients Visit Battery Park
Clients in our PROS day program for adults with mental illness recently enjoyed a fun and relaxing outing to Battery Park! The trip included a visit to the park's impressive war memorial, dedicated to members of the armed forces who died at sea, and a ride on the Staten Island Ferry. Clients were especially excited to see views of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island while on the ferry. Trip participants, many of whom participate in our art therapy program, were encouraged to photograph their fun day.
