DFW Community Events/Duas
Registration for the upcoming MLFA Leadership Conference for Justice is now open. Registration is limited, so please register early before the conference is sold out. The registration link is below. But first, here are some quick facts about the upcoming conference.

1. The conference is being held in Dallas on the weekend of October 7, 8 & 9. The location is the Embassy Suites DFW International Airport South, so we encourage you to book your flights to arrive at DFW International Airport. Free shuttle service is provided between DFW and Embassy Suites.

2. The purpose of the conference is to provide imams and mosque leaders with practical, useful knowledge about laws impacting mosque operation and the community’s well-being. Our goal is to equip you with legal knowledge you can take back to Islamic Association of North Texas for your community's benefit.

3. Space is limited, and registration is for imams and mosque leaders only. Mosque leaders can include board members, officers, directors, staff, committee chairs, or anyone else serving in a leadership role at Islamic Association of North Texas.

***At least the imam and one or more mosque leaders from Islamic Association of North Texas should attend.***

4. The conference will start on Friday, October 7, 2016, at 6 p.m. with a reception. Then, at 7:30 p.m. (immediately after Maghreb), we will serve dinner and watch the documentary “(T)ERROR.” Afterward, we will enjoy a panel discussion with filmmakers Lyric Cabral and David Felix who will be traveling to Dallas to discuss their experiences making this film and to answer your questions. Award-winning journalist and author Trevor Aaronson as well as nationally renowned attorneys from Constitutional Law Center for Muslims in America will also be on the panel to add to this important discussion about informants in mosques. It’s going to be an eye-opening evening!

5. While the conference starts Friday evening, the bulk of the sessions will be on Saturday and Sunday morning. We designed the timing so that attendees can get back to their homes by Sunday evening. The conference is going to provide 12 hours of in-depth sessions on laws and other issues that are directly relevant to the American Muslim community. Session presenters will include high-caliber attorneys and subject matter experts such as Charles Swift, Linda Moreno, Kay Guinane, Jeffrey Grieff, and others.

6. The admission fee for the conference will cover meals, refreshments and sessions. The conference fee is only $250 for Early Bird Registration.

7. If you are traveling from out of town, we strongly recommend that you select a hotel reservation on the conference registration form to secure a room. The conference weekend is also a popular football weekend (Texas vs OU). MLFA has secured a block of hotel rooms at a significant discount for conference attendees.

8. The conference will wrap up around 2 p.m. on Sunday to give attendees ample time to fly back home and rest before returning back to work on Monday.
