POLICY NEWS
On 3 December 2019, Prof Lies Geris contributed to the roundtable hosted at the European Parliament in Brussels aimed at defining concrete steps for a transition to animal-free science.
On 26 November 2019, the representatives of eight EU supercomputing centres met in Strasbourg to take further steps towards the implementation of the European Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC).
On 29 October 2019, nine European governments launched the International Horizon Scanning Initiative to strengthen their power to negotiate medicine prices with the pharmaceutical industry.
The European Commission published the revised version of Orientations towards the first Strategic Plan for Horizon Europe.
VPH COMMUNITY
The VPHi executive director, Prof Lies Geris, will give a talk on VPH at the AAAS Annual Meeting.

This is the first result of the project INSPIRE, funded by the Spanish Ministry of the Economy and Competitiveness, and aims to create advanced computational models to improve the early detection of COPD.
The article outlines part of the analysis and modelling work related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Statistics led by the In Silico Oncology and In Silico Medicine Group in Athens, as part of the BOUNCE action.
The call for bids to host the VPH2022 conference is now open. Interested organisations should submit their proposal by February 28th, 2020.
