Menasha developer plans $10 million commercial and residential project on former Brin property

A developer has proposed a $10 million commercial and residential development on the former Brin Building site at the southeast corner Main and Tayco streets.
RF Development of Menasha, the same group that owns the former City Hall at 140 Main, would purchase the Brin property from the city for $1 and then redevelop it as follows: Building 1: A three-story mixed-use building at the corner would have 8,148 square feet of commercial space and 16 market-rate apartments. Building 2: A four-story residential building along Tayco would have 30 market-rate apartments. The two apartment buildings would be connected by a skywalk. Building 3: A 3,000-square-foot restaurant near the Fox River navigational canal. Parking: The development would have 40 underground stalls and 55 surface stalls.

The event highlighted the completion of the Wisconsin accelerator and venture fund's inaugural Accelerator Studio, a program designed to build startups from scratch using only Wisconsin-based entrepreneurs.
Smith, a Wisconsin native who grew up in Appleton, talked about his new book, "Tools and Weapons: The Promise and Peril of the Digital Age." The book, he said, depicts the impact the digital age is having, and will have, on communities and businesses.
Other topics discussed by Smith included Green Bay's TitletownTech, the venture and tech startup partnership with the Packers through its TechSpark Wisconsin program, and the importance of providing broadband internet access to rural regions in the U.S. Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) has a four-year agreement with Packerland Broadband, a division of CCI Systems Inc., to provide broadband in northern Wisconsin and the upper peninsula of Michigan.
