Fourth Quarter 2019
From the Executive Director's Corner
As 2019 comes to a close, we have been reflecting on a successful year filled with growth and change. We began the year by hitting a major milestone of reaching over one million total MoneySKILL users since the program launch, spent the summer working with Dr. Barbara O’Neill to complete a full refresh of the MoneySKILL curriculum, and are closing out the year with an annual increase in teacher, student, and school activity.

In addition, staff and our education partners have continued to actively promote MoneySKILL and have attended 19 conferences and teacher trainings across the country this year reaching nearly 20,000 individuals. A major endorsement from the North Carolina State School Sup
erintendent and mentions in publications like Automotive News and Rebound magazine have also helped to spread the word about MoneySKILL.

As a result, over 57,000 individuals were enrolled as students in a MoneySKILL classroom in 2019. This could not have happened without the great work of educators across the country who are using MoneySKILL and promoting financial education in their classrooms or workplace. Keep up the good work and we look forward to hearing more of your MoneySKILL stories, successes, and feedback.

We have a lot to look forward to in 2020, including celebrating the foundation’s 30th anniversary, releasing results of a MoneySKILL impact evaluation, and conducting a radio media promotion tour. We will be announcing more soon, so keep an eye out on our website and social media pages.

Happy New Year!

Ask MoneySKILL!
How can I change the Post-Test availability dates for a MoneySKILL class once it has already been created and is in progress?

When you log in to your MoneySKILL account, click the “Edit” button on the top right of the class you want to adjust. The pop-up screen that displays will provide an option for you to adjust the dates during which the Post-Test is available.
How can I grant some of my students access to my MoneySKILL class in Spanish?

In order to grant your students access to a class in Spanish, instructors need to create a separate class just for Spanish users. If you would like the class to be the same content and format as an existing English class, you can click the “Recreate” button on the dashboard for the existing class and adjust the language to Spanish rather than create a whole new class from scratch.
Is there any way for instructors to access a transcript of the MoneySKILL course content?

While we are exploring ways to provide course transcripts, this is not something we are currently able to offer instructors. If you have a particular need for your classroom that is not available via your MoneySKILL dashboard, we encourage you to reach out to us directly at info@moneyskill.org.
MoneySKILL Reminders
Supplemental MoneySKILL Video Content Available:  Thanks to our subject matter expert, Dr. Barbara O’Neill, and support from Toyota Financial Services, all instructors now have access to supplementary video content that aligns with each of the 37 MoneySKILL modules. Log in at https://lms.moneyskill.org/teachers and check out the resources folder on the dashboard! If you have any feedback on the videos or if you are using other supplementary content in your classroom, we’d love to hear more.
Do you have a MoneySKILL success story?  The AFSA Education Foundation wants to hear about successes you have had incorporating MoneySKILL into your classroom or workplace. This can be something as simple as a brief quote from an instructor (you!), a letter of feedback from a student, a detailed story about the benefits of MoneySKILL, or even a mention on social media (@AFSAEducationFN). If you have something to share, please reach out to us at info@moneyskill.org.
Supporting MoneySKILL: If you are contemplating making a charitable donation before the year ends, consider making a tax-deductible donation today to support the AFSA Education Foundation and MoneySKILL. Your contribution helps us to continue providing high quality financial education resources and training to educators and employers across the country. Thank you!
