COVID-19 Message
March 16, 2020

Dear Beloved Wilbur Community,

We wanted to reach out to you during this moment of uncertainty.

For more than a hundred years Wilbur Hot Springs has been a sanctuary for health and healing. Many of you consider Wilbur your home, and when you come to Wilbur you are not just guests but you are family. We are concerned for your health and well-being during the unprecedented events surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and we hope you are taking care of yourselves and your loved ones.

As of Sunday March 15, CDC has recommended that gatherings of 50 people or more be cancelled throughout the US to help prevent the spread of the virus. While a stay at Wilbur is not exactly a “gathering,” we are nevertheless taking the precaution of limiting Wilbur overnight guests to 30 guests per day, and we are temporarily suspending day-use. We believe this will allow guests more social distancing while staying at Wilbur and using the facilities. Wilbur staff is taking extra precautions in cleaning both private rooms and public areas like the community kitchen, dining room, library and flumes.

We ask our guests who are in the category of “vulnerable persons” not to come to Wilbur Hot Springs at this time. According to medical experts, this includes older people and anyone with heart disease, diabetes and lung disease. If you are at higher risk for serious illness from COVID-19 because of your age or because you have a serious long-term health problem, it is extra important for you to take actions to reduce your risk of getting sick with the disease. We recommend that you STAY HOME.

If you are of ANY AGE and you are feeling unwell, have a dry sore-throat, cough or fever, please STAY HOME and consult the advice of your physician.

We know that many people want to come to Wilbur as a refuge during this time. We welcome you and we are doing everything we can to maintain Wilbur as a safe and healthy retreat, thus our limit to 30 guests per night.

It’s a vulnerable time for many. Our hearts go out to those who are facing this illness directly and our deep gratitude goes out to healthcare professionals who are managing this on the front-lines.

At Wilbur Hot Springs, we strive to be a model for kindness, patience and generosity during this time. We all need each other. Stay healthy. Stay in touch.

BEE POSITIVE!

We are so excited at Wilbur Hot Springs regarding two initiatives that we are bee-ginning to embrace, and that is beekeeping and the creation of our very own owl habitats!
Recently, we found several owls on property close to the lodging facilities, and we wanted to encourage the growth and stabilization of our land management, so Wilbur Hot Springs has invested in owl boxes for both barn owls and Great Horned Owls.
