Recovery Story
Edward Howard's Life Beyond Addiction
Edward Howard’s road to recovery includes a long history of substance abuse, a prison sentence, multiple incarcerations, homeless shelters, and food pantries. But he never gave up on himself.

In 2017, Edward walked into a family recovery center in the west side of Chicago where he was introduced to SMART Recovery. The SMART program and its tools have shaped a better understanding of his thinking, beliefs, and behaviors.

Edward Howard has been living a Life Beyond Addiction now for four years.

Watch his incredible recovery story in this video.
Free NAADAC Webinar
RACEing Through Revolving Doors
We are pleased to share with our community the details of this free webinar offered by The Association for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC).

Mass incarceration and high recidivism rates are critical issues in the United States. Even more critical are the racial disparities found within these rates. Much of the recidivism is caused by mental health disorders such as trauma, depression, and addiction. Counselors and counselor educators must determine their role in battling this crisis. In this session, NAADAC will explore some of the disorders that fuel recidivism and what they as treatment and other health care professionals must do to combat it.
  • Wednesday, March 10th, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. ET
  • Presented by Anthony Andrews, PhD, LCMHC, LCAS, CRC
