POLICY NEWS
The Conference - “EU Secure and Innovative Digital Future”, held by the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU on 3-4 November 2022.
On 22 November 2022, the Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME) has published its position on the revision of the EU general pharmaceutical legislation, urging the EU to restore the balance of the pharmaceutical sector in the interest of patients.
The Centre for Artificial Intelligence under the European Parliament’s Science and Technology Options Assessment (STOA) Panel has published a podcast on AI in healthcare.
Building on their rich work in digital health, EPF began engaging at different levels on Artificial Intelligence in healthcare, from policy to capacity building in 2020.
On 8 November 2022 a conference was held at the European Parliament on “Pharmaceuticals in the Environment: Current Challenges and Tomorrow's Solutions to Protect Wildlife”.
VPH COMMUNITY
The position paper has been published on the IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics and obtained the front cover.
The first high-level partner meeting of the EDITH-CSA (European Virtual Human Twin in Healthcare - Coordination and Support Action) Consortium took place in Leuven, Belgium on 29-30 November 2022.
The meeting has been held in Bologna on the 8 November 2022 with the participation of medical doctors, in silico trials researchers, ethical and legal experts, patients, and industry representatives.
The platform has the potential to bring down times and costs of drug development by focusing on already approved, discontinued, shelved or investigational therapeutics.
On 29 November 2022, an article was released presenting in laymen terms what in silico medicine is and what its possible applications are.
The VPH institute is looking for 2 motivated persons with a background in computer modeling and simulation, digital twins, artificial intelligence or health data to reinforce the team and help to build the ecosystem for digital twins in healthcare.

STUDENT COMMITTEE
The webinar by Prof. Kent-Andre Mardal from the University of Oslo has been held on 15 November 2022 in collaboration with the ESB. 
A number of research positions in the field of in silico medicine opened in the last month.
Submit if you are a student or postdoctoral member in good standing of the ESB whose manuscript has been accepted in a peer reviewed journal between Jan 1st 2022 and Nov 30th 2022. Deadline: 1st Dec 2022
