POLICY NEWS
On 17 February 2021, the EC presented a Communication to launch a European bio-defence preparedness plan called “HERA Incubator” to address the emerging threat of coronavirus variants with an envelope of €225 million.
On 3 February 2021, the EC published its much-awaited Beating Cancer Plan. The Plan develops proposals and key initiatives for each stage of the disease, remarking the role that research, innovation and new technologies play in the fight against cancer.  
On 3 February 2021 the Avicenna Alliance has submitted its feedback to the European Commission’s inception impact assessment on the European Health Data Space.
The European Commission published the roadmap for the European Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA), which was open for consultation until 24 Feb 2021.

A new paper on in silico trials has been published on "Methods on Simulation in Biomedicine" volume 185 written by Marco Viceconti, Francesco Pappalardo, BlancaRodrigue, Marc Horner, Jeff Bischoff & Flora Musuamba Tshinanu
The In Silico World project, coordinated by the University of Bologna and funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, officially started on the 28th January 2021 with an online kick-off meeting that saw the participation of all 14 partner institutions, including the VPHi.
A new call for papers will be soon published by Frontiers Research on "Mechanobiology and the Microenvironment: Computational and Experimental Approaches"
NeuroNews published an interview with two of the INSIST project’s leaders: Charles Majoie (professor of neuroradiology at the Amsterdam University Medical Center Amsterdam) and Alfons Hoekstra (professor of computational science and engineering, director of the Informatics Institute at Amsterdam University and VPHi board member)
