Student Volunteers Spruce Up Bridge Residences
Columbia Business School students paint the backyard patios at three Bridge supportive housing residences.

The Bridge recently hosted two groups of volunteers from local universities.

On April 8th, students from Columbia University's School of Business painted the backyard spaces at three of our Manhattan residences. Then, on April 22nd, students from Baruch College visited our East River House residence in East Harlem to garden and paint the rear patio area. All four of the residences look great, and our tenants are very excited to spend time in their refurbished backyards, especially as the weather warms up.

Baruch College students paint the walls and tidy the garden area at East River House, one of The Bridge's supportive housing programs in East Harlem

Volunteers are an important asset to The Bridge, lending their expertise and assisting us with a variety of activities such as painting, gardening, and participating in projects with clients. Thank you to both Columbia University School of Business students and Baruch College students for volunteering their time this month!

Spin-A-Thon 2016 Raises Funds for Bridge Programs
The Bridge's Third Annual Spin-A-Thon was held on April 16th, and the event was a success! Two dozen people attended a fun and challenging spin class, which was followed by a wine and cheese reception, where great prizes were raffled off.
The event was sponsored by the Make A Difference Committee (MADC), a group of young professionals dedicated to supporting The Bridge's mission. MADC events aim to both raise awareness of social issues, such as mental illness and homelessness, related to The Bridge's work, and to raise funds to support programmatic efforts.

MADC holds events throughout the year. Stay tuned for information on their next event -- a New York Yankees game on June 26th.
