The Weaver

By Maria Egilsson

Psalm 139:16 “Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” (NIV)

In the early morning sun I sit and soak in the quiet of the dawning day. All appears well in my outer world. I am yet blissfully unaware of the work that God wants to do within the secret, hidden man of my heart. Before the sun sets I find myself feeling intense and powerful emotions. I am like a twisted ball of nubby yarn. I can’t see the beginning from the end.

Tightly wound, end over end, until I cannot see the way to unravel this tightened skein of colored thread. Trying to unknot myself just pulls the fine thread even tauter together. In despair I cry out to Him. The Master Weaver pokes and prods with needles made for this type of yarn. The process is not gentle as it reaches deep within this tangled mess to reach what needs to be separated and brought to the surface. Strong tugs bind all the loose strands back onto the needles held firmly within His hands

He has a plan for this ball of nubby yarn that was set in motion even before my life had drawn its first breath. He loosens every thread and re-works that which I had tried to weave myself.

Prayer: Father, I give my life to Your control knowing that You are working in my life.
