Survey Finds COBOL Modernization is Key to Strategic Business Change
Micro Focus recently surveyed IT managers, developers, and executives who manage COBOL applications about their plans for the future. The results continue to reveal a strong trend towards modernization over replacement, showing once again that COBOL has some serious staying power (at least a decade, according to the survey).

This is good news for managers of Legacy systems. If modernization efforts continue to be executed by a large, committed group of IT professionals, lots of time-tested and cutting-edge best practices will be in play in the real world for all of us to draw lessons and inspiration from.
