Life's Greatest Adventure!
April 16th 2014
Hi Friend,

The Aries-Libra axis is being highlighted for particular attention right now which means we are going through a time when all our relations are being highlighted for review. This doesn't just mean our romantic relationships, but how we relate to our extended family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, strangers, plants and animals: indeed all our human family and all the other sentient beings we share our planetary home with!

The Aries-Libra axis is all about self-other, but first let's take a look at what it is that is bringing it to our attention.

First it's still 'Aries Season', meaning the Sun (which symbolizes our vital energy) went into Aries on March 20th and will stay there until Sunday (April 20th). So as we bask in the warm spring sunshine (depending where you are in the world!) we are all receiving our vital energy through the 'lens' of Aries right now. Second we started this week with the Moon (which represents our instincts, emotions and relating capacity) in Libra, and the Full Moon on Tuesday 15th. The Full Moon is always the 'balance' point of the month when the Sun and Moon are in opposite signs: so when the Sun is in Aries the Full Moon will be in Libra. This is always a time that highlights an axis of two 'opposite' signs and is an opportunity for balance. Third, there was a Total Lunar Eclipse of this Full Moon in Libra and, fourth, even though the Sun leaves Aries and moves into Taurus on Sunday April 20th the Aries-Libra axis still holds our attention as part of the Cardinal Grand Cross (see last week's newsletter).

Eclipses always herald change: we appear to 'lose' something only to have it reappear again. A kind of death and rebirth. With lunar eclipses there is a change of form, so with a lunar eclipse in Libra our relationships have the potential to take on a different form. We get the first ripples of 'change' three months before an eclipse and the effects are still being felt  in our awareness up to three months later. If you look to your relationships, you can look back over the past three months to see where the dynamics have been trying to get your attention!

Putting all that together I think it's fair to say that all our relations are up for review! Aries-Libra calls for fairness and balance: to be in relation with others in ways that honor both parties, and the whole. When we venture too far to the Aries end of this see-saw there can be too much focus on 'me', and we can lose sight of the effects our actions are having on those around us. When we venture too far to the Libra end of the see-saw there can be too much focus on others, and we can lose sight of ourselves and what we need in relationship. When we find the balance-point we are able to walk through the world in a way that acknowledges and honors our own needs and those of others.

This isn't an easy path to walk. If it were we would never have conflict between people, there would be no war, and no need for a justice system (ruled by Libra - the 'scales of justice'). Because we are all different, we will have different needs and sometimes there is a conflict of interests. We are individuals and we have different perspectives, not to mention we are all at different stages of our journey. So walking this path in a way that honors us and takes others into account, requires a great deal of emotional and social intelligence, patience, compassion, skill in relating and advanced communication!

These are challenging times for sure, but not impossible. The message behind a lunar eclipse is that it IS possible to change form. It is an important time to look at ourselves and take responsibility for the part we are playing in our relations and to see what and were we can change. If we are experiencing challenges in our relations, it is an opportunity for growth and awakening. Do we need to do something different? Do we need to develop our skill? Do we need to be more aware? Are we blaming others or are we taking responsibility for our own actions, and the consequences? It is a time of challenge and change but all is not lost. Ultimately it is through our relations with others that we have the most opportunity for growth, if we are open to change and learning.

That's all for now see you next time, and in the meantime... happy exploring!

Best Wishes,

Ruth
