Dear Nurses,

Renee Thompson, DNP, RN, CMSRN, has received the prestigious CSP® designation from the National Speaker’s Association. Renee is one of only
twenty-six nurses in the world to have this designation. The NNBA is fortunate to count among our membership, several of those twenty-six nurses! And awesome news for Donna Cardillo, RN, MA, CSP®; Donna is being inducted this November into the American Academy of Nursing as a Fellow and will add FAAN after her name. Congratulations Donna and Renee!

The NNBA Nurse Entrepreneurship & Career Alternatives Conference is only 4 months away! Registrations keep coming in so be sure to contact the Westgate Resort & Casino to reserve your rooms at the special discounted rate for the NNBA. Make reservations online by using the dedicated website available for NNBA participants https://aws.passkey.com/go/SNNB8R. We were there earlier this week looking at the beautiful rooms for the breakouts and main sessions. Check out some of the pictures on NNBANow Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/nnbanow/?ref=settings

I want to remind NNBA members that there are two benefits that you should be taking advantage of, the web page presence page link https://nnbanow.com/web-presence-form/ and submitting your events on the calendar of events. This is additional advertising and marketing for you, and your business. Thousands of NNBA website visitors are able to learn more about you and what you do. These two benefits alone are worth more than double the $149.00 membership!

All the sponsor packages for the conference are sold out except for the Gold Level and there is limited space available for an exhibitor’s table. This will be closing soon.

Do you enjoy teaching? Would extra income benefit you? Then join Louise Jakubik, PhD, RN-BC, CSP® for her preconference session Launching Your Nursing Education Business. Stella Nsong RN, CMC, CDP, LTCP, is back with the Hidden Fortune in Community Based Elder Care where she will present several lucrative business models. Read about all the speaker’s compelling topics and actionable content here https://nnbanow.com/conference-agenda/.

The first article of interest below is 9 Top Book Marketing Takeaways from Book Expo 2018 for the many nurse authors in our community. Marketing is important to a book’s success. If you have ever wanted to write a book or learn to write like a pro, Pat Iyer, MSN, RN, LNCC, is sharing valuable information for you with her preconference workshop! 5 Surefire Ways to Promote Your Business on Facebook is a good article and you can learn all about Facebook Video content with Chioma Okeke, RN, BSN, PHN when she presents with Keith Carlson, RN, BSN, NC-BC The Power of Podcasting and Facebook Video Livestream.

And I just had to wrap the articles up with something different. Summer is the time for entertaining, especially in the backyard. Best Big Batch Summer Cocktails is on my summer bucket list. These drinks look healthy, delicious and refreshing; let me know if you try one!

Unconventionally yours,

Michelle

At last week’s BookExpo 2018 — the biggest annual publishing conference in the US — several sessions and panels covered book marketing and sales topics. We gathered tips from experts at the leading publishers, literary agencies, and publishing or marketing vendors, and we’re excited to share them with our readers!

From audience engagement to keyword optimization, publishers and marketers were buzzing about boosting preorder sales, authenticity on social media, and running personalized promotions.
Facebook is a platform with millions of daily users, so it’s no surprise that it can drive a lot of business. Conversely, you’re certainly losing business if you’re not promoting on Facebook. However, there is a right way and a wrong way to do it.

Facebook is merely a time expenditure, but the return on investment is out of this world. You can’t afford not to be promoting on Facebook. Read on to learn how to do it in a way that captures tons of new traffic.
Tis the season for outdoor BBQs, backyard parties, and poolside get-togethers. While all these activities make summer into summertime, they all require ice cold cocktails to really get the party started. After all, what is a party without a beverage? However, making sure that your guests are properly hydrated can pose a problem. How do you make sure everyone has a mixed drink in their hand and that you get to enjoy the party yourself?

You could hire a bartender. Too expensive. You could stand there and mix the drinks yourself.
