POLICY NEWS
In early May, the EC proposed to allocate a budget of €97.9 billion to Horizon Europe, the next EU Research and Innovation Programme (2021-2027).
In early May, the European Commission adopted the Joint Research Council’s (JRC) Work Programme for 2018-19, which falls under Horizon 2020.
Poland has recently announced its intention to sign the European Declaration on High Performance Computing (EuroHPC Declaration) and join the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking, which aims to pool European and national resources to build a world-class HPC infrastructure.
A committee of seven experts has been mandated by Commissioner Carlos Moedas, who is in charge of European Research, Science and Innovation, to identify potential candidates for the next President of the European Research Council (ERC)
The European Research Ministers have formally endorsed the Commission Roadmap for the creation of a European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), launching the process that will lead to the setting up of the EOSC as a federated model.
VPH COMMUNITY
Would you like to join the VPHi Board of Directors and play an active role in shaping the future of in silico medicine research? The time is now.
On the first day of the VPH2018 Conference in Zaragoza, the VPHi will host a special plenary session to present the research priorities for in silico medicine in Horizon Europe, the framework programme set to launch in 2021 that will succeed Horizon 2020.
The VPHi members - only event will be an esclusive occasion to discuss and ask clarifications on the upcoming calls, but it will also offer an opportunity to network and create synergies to facilitate the consortium creations process for future VPH projects.
On 31 May 2018 the VPHi announced the results of the elections of the BoD members of the UK National chapter.
Interest in the potential of in silico technologies continues to grow. This year the Showcase event saw the extraordinary participation of over 250 attendees from academia, industry, and funding bodies.
The CORBEL partners are launching a 2nd Open Call for research projects to meet the prevailing need for combined service provision from multiple research infrastructures across Europe.
This video produced by one the major healthcare technology provider, Philips, well explains the VPH concept of Digital Patient, here called "Digital Twin", highlighting the power of modelling and simulation in healthcare.
