Subject: July 2012 FaithWriters Newsletter

Dear Friend,

JULY 2012
FAITHWRITERS NEWSLETTER
FaithWriters.com news and information for the write-brained
Christian!

“Therefore encourage (admonish, exhort) one another and edify
(strengthen and build up) one another, just as you are doing.”
– 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (AMP)

It’s always nice to be complimented, isn’t it? Especially on
something we are passionate about. Like our faith…our
family…or our writing. The Weekly Writing Challenge offers a
wonderful way to encourage others. As Christians, even when
pointing out ways for others to improve, we are to do it in a
constructive way, to build up and inspire them in their gift.
Yes, there are times when we need to tell someone the hard truth.
And sometimes the truth hurts. But we should always be
considerate and kind, being careful not to damage their spirit in
the process. It’s a fine line that isn’t always easy to
discern. That said, a positive word is always in order, so look
for opportunities to offer praise and encouragement every day.

Be sure to read the Out of the Mouths of FaithWriters section at
the end of this newsletter to see what your fellow members have
to say about the nicest compliment they’ve ever received about
their writing.

ALL MEMBERS - BLOGGING CONTEST FOR PAID WRITING OPPORTUNITIES

So have you heard about this awesome opportunity? This contest is
open to any level (Silver, Gold, and Platinum), and gives you a
chance to not only blog about excellent ministries that are
spreading the gospel, but also to win great prizes, including
paid writing opportunities! If you have never blogged, please
don’t be afraid. You simply write an article, following the
contest instructions, and post it. The first blogging opportunity
is with The Pocket Testament League (PTL) (http://www.ptl.org/).
There is a minimum of $325.00 in prizes for this one contest.
Plus the winners would have a great opportunity to impress the
Pocket Testament League with their articles and earn the right to
more work.

Just think, you get to hone your craft with a topic and a
deadline, gain exposure, and you help promote a solid Biblical
ministry spreading the good news about Jesus, and build treasure
in heaven! If that is all you get, you have already won. But you
also have the chance for a paycheck in this world, and the chance
to earn more work from the Pocket Testament League. This is a
win, win situation and Mike needs your help. We can get many more
opportunities like this, if we have enough involvement. Please
get involved.

The DEADLINE for your PTL entry is July 7th at 10am so check this
out now.

For further clarification, and full details, visit this
FaithWriters Forum, where everything is spelled out for you, and
you can get your questions answered.

This is the first of many article/blog contests with paid writing
opportunities or cash prizes. We have other ministries waiting in
the wings. We hope to hold an average of one contest every three
weeks, and more if the interest is there. Best wishes to all who
participate!

LOOKING AHEAD

The Challenge books are about to be re-launched! The newest book,
titled “Simple Pleasures” will be released in late
August/early September, so watch for the announcement, coming
soon! After that, the books should be coming at a fairly quick
pace, so if you are one of the authors who placed in the Weekly
Writing Challenge top 10 in the past several years, it won’t be
long before you see your story in print! For those of you who
will be included in the books, please note that although you may
have signed a release for FaithWriters, you will also be
contacted and asked to sign a release with Breath of Fresh Air
Press for each book you are in.

OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF FAITHWRITERS

Last month, members were asked the following question:

WHAT IS THE NICEST COMPLIMENT YOU'VE RECEIVED ABOUT YOUR WRITING?

Here are a few of the responses received:

“I wrote a play that was performed a few months ago. Members of
the cast said, ‘This should go touring.’ Oh, wow!” -Sandra
Fernando

"You should be a writer." - Jan Chapman

“I felt every emotion and this will continue to touch a lot of
people. You write from your heart...and that is where God is.”
- Susan Allen

“The nicest compliment I’ve ever received came as a result of
an article I wrote that was published in a local magazine. The
article talked about a children’s home on Warm Springs Avenue
and how ‘harsh’ life was for the unwanted and unloved orphans
who lived there. A woman saw my article and said, ‘It inspired
me and my husband so much that we’ve decided to adopt a
child!’” - Leona Campbell

“I sent a few pages to a published author for a critique. This
was part of the reply:
‘I just skimmed your pages a minute ago, and I'm in awe of you.
You're very, very talented. You're a writer, absolutely! I'm
overjoyed. 99% of the time, the pages sent to me by aspiring
writers are not good, and then I have to be frank and hurt
feelings. But you rock!’"- Christina Banks

“Upon hearing that I'd chosen social work as a major and career
pursuit, an English instructor during my community college days
said, ‘Naw . . . be a writer.’ For me, that was a sign my
writing was not too shabby. The memory sticks out vividly in my
mind more than a dozen years later.” – Melinda Gregory

“My favorite comment was: ‘Thank you, your story inspired me
to let Jesus into my life. I am now a child of God!’" – Patsy

NEXT MONTH’S QUESTION:

WHAT IS THE MOST MEMORABLE FICTION BOOK YOU’VE READ SO FAR THIS
YEAR?

Send your 1-2 sentence response to
FaithWriters.contact@yahoo.com. Check back next month to see if
your answer was selected to appear.

WE APPRECIATE YOU SO MUCH AND WISH YOU A WONDERFUL JULY! KEEP
WRITING FOR THE KINGDOM!
