From May 5 – 9, The Architecture & Design Film Festival at the Gene Siskel Film Center will be showcasing 39 films from 11 countries, and feature a dynamic program of films, panel discussions and Q&As with filmmakers, architects and designers. Below are highlights of some films that will be shown:

Architecture & Design Film Festival presents an evening of short films :

Followed by a discussion with James Venturi, filmmaker and owner of Light From Light Films. LFLF produces documentaries that are designed to be enlightening.

Antwerp Central

March 27, Montreal "It was announced at the International Festival of Films on Art in Montreal (FIFA) that the Grand Prize was given to the film Antwerp Central.”

This film takes the viewer on a journey through the physical and mental space of Antwerp’s Railway Cathedral, from its construction to the present day. The film covers three centuries of Belgian railway history: from the moment that the national railway company laid its first tracks to the development of the high-speed rail link in the 21st century. Visual Acoustics

Directed by Eric Bricker

Narrated by Dustin Hoffman, Visual Acoustics celebrates the life and career of Julius Shulman, the world's greatest architectural photographer, whose images brought modern architecture to the American mainstream. Shulman, who passed away this year, captured the work of nearly every modern and progressive architect since the 1930s including Frank Lloyd Wright, Richard Neutra, John Lautner and Frank Gehry. His images epitomized the singular beauty of Southern California's modernist movement and brought its iconic structures to the attention of the general public. This unique film is both a testament to the evolution of modern architecture and a joyful portrait of the magnetic, whip-smart gentleman who chronicled it with his unforgettable images.
