Art to the Avenue

Greenwich Avenue

More than 100 artists are hosted by stores along Greenwich Avenue and adjacent streets. Musicians and performers fill the streets, and almost all the stores host receptions for their artists. Maps are available online, showing which artists are in which stores. Stay for an after-party at the Greenwich Arts Council, 7:30-9:30pm with music by Yuri Juarez, an international music ensemble, blending Classical, Jazz, Flamenco, Brazilian, Tango and Afro-Peruvian music influences. More... 
Gay Gatherings: Philip Johnson, David Whitney and the Modern Arts

This exhibition explores interactions at the Glass House among eight gay men who profoundly shaped 20th-century artistic culture: Philip Johnson and his partner, curator/collector David Whitney, John Cage, Merce Cunningham, Lincoln Kirstein, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, and Andy Warhol. Coincident with the 50th anniversary of New York’s Stonewall Uprising in 1969, and the 70th anniversary of the completion of the Glass House in 1949, Gay Gatherings underscores an essential element of the site‘s history that has not been fully presented as part of its public interpretation up to this time. More...
