The British Are Coming: The Danbury Raid of 1777

The curator of the Historical Society's 2017 Danbury Raid exhibit, discusses the 1777 raid by British troops, who landed at Compo Beach, April 22, marched to Danbury and destroyed Patriot supplies. CT militia leaders sprang into action, but suffered losses at the Battle of Ridgefield and merely harrassed the British on their return to Compo where the British fleet was waiting. The raid galvanized Patriot support but showed how residents were divided, for and against the Revolution. More...

In Hapur, India, where the stigma of menstruation persists, a group of women make low-cost sanitary pads on a new machine and stride toward financial independence.
