Purpose
It’s an exciting time of year as we move the clocks forward and are moving quickly towards announcing the opening of registration for #NNBA2017. Since 1985, this organization has been dedicated to the advancement and promotion of Nurses in Business and Nurse Entrepreneurship. Our signature annual conference is true to our mission, and provides nurses massive valuable information, actionable take-a-ways and follow-up resources regarding current and emerging options for today’s nurse. More than 20 sessions will be presented by nationally acclaimed speakers, leading Nurse Entrepreneurs and inspirational business leaders. This conference weekend, September 8-10, 2017, changes lives. We have seen this repetitively through the years. NNBA’s membership program and annual conference is filled with evidenced based nurse business owner success!

Keynote: Hall of Fame Speaker and NY Times Bestselling Author LeAnn Thieman

Her book, This Must Be My Brother, details her daring adventure in South Vietnam of “Operation Babylift”. After this story was featured in Chicken Soup for the Mother’s Soul, LeAnn became one of Chicken Soup’s most prolific writers.

Incubators & Entrepreneurship Centers - Shared Workspaces Business - University Entrepreneurship Centers
Have you researched if any of these type facilities are near you? Many of these have been created on the particular needs of a region and usually driven by local economic needs. They can be technology based, service based, healthcare based, retail based or manufacturing based. There are hundreds of Incubators, Shared Work Spaces and University Entrepreneurship Centers all over the country. I have been to the Cove here in Orange County, that is part of the University of California’s Irvine Campus. While I am not interested in renting space there, I have enjoyed going to several Lunch & Learn programs. Just place the categories above in a search engine like Google to see if there are any in your area. Then go and check it out; the networking alone is helpful as you grow your business.

Congratulations to South Dakota for becoming the most recent State to pass a law to grant full and direct access to Nurse Practitioners! This is the 22nd State to authorize NPs to provide the full scope of services to the public. Certainly, this will enhance patients’ ability to access high quality health care.

Just how are laws made? Let’s take some time here to learn about how you can get one in the law books.

First, you need to find one of your State’s legislators who will “sponsor” and introduce your bill. It’s helpful to seek out members who are on the Health Committee because all bills must first go through Committee.
Your business may be small, but a business website is no longer optional -- even if you serve a local customer base, and have no intentions of selling your products or services online.

Here are five essentials every small business website should include:

1. A powerful home page
Your website’s home page is the first impression you give the online world about your business: It should clearly communicate your business’s brand image through appealing visuals and copy, along with:
Every entrepreneur dreams of being rich. They dream of having the power to pull fiscal strings, able to command a vast fortune and make money while they sleep, all while enjoying a life replete with leisure and pleasure. Yet, in a world where the have-nots far outweigh the haves, where just over 1,800 individuals across the entire planet can call themselves billionaires -- a mere blip on the percentage scale of the world's population -- not only are most not rich, they're also heavily indebted.

The truth? While some might seek the answers or secrets to getting rich in life, others are simply struggling to keep their heads above water.
