Photonics Spectra Conference
Join our presentation
The inaugural Photonics Spectra Conference will take place online, January 19 - 22, 2021, and will feature over 70 presentations in four technology tracks — lasers, optics, spectroscopy and biomedical imaging. Each day-long program will feature a keynote address and sessions that highlight the latest in applications, industry trends, and technological developments, along with expert insights from across academia and industry. Participation is granted free of charge.

As part of the optics track we are presenting on the topic of "IR optics: Efficient testing throughout the manufacturing process". Please make sure to join our presentation on January 20 at 10:30 AM EST.

IR optics
Efficient testing throughout the manufacturing process
In the manufacturing process of IR optical systems, the nontransparency of the lens materials in the visible spectral range (VIS) leads to special requirements on the assembly and test equipment.

Whereas the assembly process in many cases can be accomplished by using cost-effective VIS equipment, other testing steps require a test bench specifically designed for IR. This is particularly true for the final inspection and when the root cause for out-of-spec assemblies needs to be identified. Here, a solution for the full optomechanical characterization in the infrared is required.

Dr. Patrik Langehanenberg and Christian Domagalski present solutions regarding how to make the manufacturing process of IR objective lenses more efficient by using adequate techniques for centration-based alignment testing with OptiCentric®, IR modulation transfer function (MTF) analysis with ImageMaster® and noncontact determination of center thicknesses and air spacings with OptiSurf®.
Our expert for centration testing
Dr. Patrik Langehanenberg
Patrik Langehanenberg received his doctorate in physics from the University of Münster in 2009. Since then he has been working for TRIOPTICS GmbH as R&D and product manager. Here he leads the research and development activities in the field of centration testing and optomechanical characterization of optical systems.

Our expert for image quality testing
Christian Domagalski
Christian Domagalski holds a degree in physical engineering of the University of Applied Sciences in Wedel, Germany. For 18 years, he is employed at TRIOPTICS GmbH as development engineer and later also as product manager designing instruments for the image quality testing of single lenses and lens systems with the ImageMaster® HR products.
