China bans the bag!
Plastic bags will be banned in all of China’s major cities by the end of 2020 and in all cities and towns in 2022!
China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment which issued the policy aims to gradually limit the production, use, and sale of single-use plastic items — from plastic bags to delivery packages. In an interview, #breakfreefromplastic changemaker Mao Da of the China Zero Waste Alliance welcomed the move. However, he cautioned against encouraging individuals to use biodegradable plastic since it would only hurt the environment in the long run.

The Plastic Soup Foundation finds SHOCKING evidence of plastic pellet pollution!
Dutch #breakfreefromplastic member Plastic Soup Foundation has launched legal action after finding shocking levels of plastic pellets used to make almost all plastic products in the environment around key ports. They have called for Dutch authorities to enforce environmental legislation against the polluting corporations.

In celebration of the Philippines’ Zero Waste Month, #breakfreefromplastic Philippine member groups hosted an exclusive screening of ‘Story of Plastic' - the first feature length documentary highlighting the true cost of plastic pollution. Legislators, movie critics and the public joined a panel conversation with the film’s executive producer Stiv Wilson and changemakers featured in the film.
