Greetings!
So far in early 2019, the Toronto real estate market is off to a good start - despite the cold weather and heavy snow falls. Interest rates on fixed rate mortgages at the Canadian banks recently declined, which may signal the start of further interest rate cuts this year.
The Ontario government is considering a change in the Real Estate & Business Brokers Act to allow selling agents to disclose the prices and conditions of competing offers in multiple offer situations. While this change in policy is still under consideration, we would welcome this change to allow for greater transparency to both buyers and sellers while engaged in a bidding war. | "Greater Toronto Area REALTORS® reported a total of 77,426 residential transactions through TREB's MLS® System in 2018. This result represented a 16.1 per cent decline compared to 92,263 sales reported in 2017. Total new listings entered into TREB's MLS® System were down by 12.7 per cent over the same period to 155,823.
