The Bridge Breaks Ground on Two New Supported Housing Programs |

On July 22nd, The Bridge held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Maple Street Residence, which is located in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn. Once completed, the 66 unit permanent supported housing program will house men and women living with mental illness, as well as low income families and older adults from the community. The event was attended by state officials, Bridge board members, and many of our partners on the project. |

| | Then on August 3rd, The Bridge held a groundbreaking ceremony for Melrose Commons in the Bronx. This building will house 58 homeless adults, with a preference given to veterans. Each tenant will have his/her own studio apartment. The building will also provide a community room with a kitchen, a computer lab, a laundry room, and outdoor recreational space. There will be on-site case management services for residents, and 24/7 front desk coverage.
Melrose Commons is a "green" building and will have solar panels, solar shades, and high efficiency systems. |

| Partners in Caring Awards Gala Raises $505,000 for Vital Programs |
| | More than 400 people from real estate, business, philanthropy, and the non-profit sector came together at New York City’s Mandarin Oriental Hotel on June 6th to celebrate the work of The Bridge. The evening's honorees were John Catsimatidis, Jr., Neil B. Davidowitz, Esq., and George McDonald.
The program included presentations by two residents of The Bridge’s Herkimer Street Residence, Stanley and Shaquanna. Both eloquently described how The Bridge’s programs have given them a foundation from which they can build new lives.
The annual dinner raised a record-breaking $505,000 for The Bridge’s programs. Noted broadcaster and radio personality Pat Carroll served as the emcee for the evening. |

| | Volunteers Spruce up Seven Bridge Residences |
| | This July, The Bridge welcomed 25 volunteers from Young Neighbors in Action. The volunteers, visiting from Boston, were completing a week of service in New York City and decided to spend their time painting and gardening at our residences. Over the five days they spent with us, the teenagers helped out at seven of our programs in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. Our residences look great with a new coat of paint and freshly manicured outdoor spaces. Thank you to the volunteers for all of their hard work! |
| | | Make A Difference Committee Supports Bridge with Yankees Fundraiser |
| | | The Bridge's Make A Difference Committee sponsored a day at Yankee Stadium this summer. The event included a private party on the stadium's rooftop deck and a game between the New York Yankees and the Minnesota Twins. Even though the home team lost, everyone had a great time. Proceeds from the event benefited The Bridge's Summertime Fun Fund, which supports educational and recreational activities for Bridge clients during the summer months. Thank you to everyone who attended, and to the Make A Difference Committee for its work on behalf of Bridge clients! |
