You are able to become more confident in your decision making. The Nurse Business Insider Tip below helps identify how. In this issue's Articles of Interest , can you relate to one or more of 12 Fears You Need to Overcome to Succeed in Business. Some of them I have conquered and some just keep circling back...I'm working on it! The Trends for 2017 are actually 12 separate articles and you can click on the ones you find compelling. And last article; Transform Failure, Disaster and Rejection into a Fortune teaches us the realization that while things don’t always go as planned, we can  aim our energy towards constructive solutions. It's that progress that makes us feel better. This is what I hear many times from nurses who are amazingly resilient, continuing to move forward and continuing to make a difference in the lives of others.

Speaking of making a difference, Stella Nsong makes a big difference in improving the lives of our aging population. A very popular preconference last year, Stella returns this September sharing The Hidden Fortune in Community based Elder Care. Check out Stella's ad below which offers a free course on the business of caregiving that you can access by clicking on the ad. And we are looking forward to seeing you at #NNBA2017!

Confident Decision Making: Power Full Questions

Becoming better at making good decisions is a skill we can develop and it starts with making sure you have enough information. We get our information by asking questions….lots of them. Here are Power Full questions.
  • What is the decision I am facing?
  • What are my objectives?
  • What are my alternatives?
  • What are the consequences of making this decision?
  • What are the trade-offs?
  • Do any of the uncertainties pose serious problems?
  • How much risk am I willing to take?
  • Have I thought ahead, planning into the future?
  • Is the decision obvious or pretty clear at this point?
  • What should I be working on?
In Tony Robbins Awaken the Giant Within, he writes, "Quality questions create a quality life." He elaborates that people succeed by making decisions that control their destinies by asking the right questions. In addition to questions, I find three other methods helpful in making decisions.
  1. Stepping Stones: Sometimes you just need to place your toe in the water before you decide to jump in the pool. Not every decision is a leap; sometimes it's stepping stones till you get there.
  2. Percolating a Decision: Sometimes our thoughts and information needs time to brew. Many times when friends have asked me what I'm working on my response has been, "I'm percolating on a few things right now."
  3. Trust Your Gut: Intuition is one of our greatest instincts and too often is discounted and dismissed. There is a reason they call your gut your second brain. -excerpt from Unconventional Nurse: Going from Burnout to Bliss!

Psychology Today

Your fears can be the biggest barriers to your success.

They can stop you from going after what you truly desire; they can make you believe that your chances of success are so small that you don't even try. Fears are complex; they're cunning, they can be deep-seated, and they are often subconscious, which can mean that you are not always aware of what it is that is holding you back.

In her excellent book Fight the Fear, Mandie Holgate highlights 12 fears you need to overcome to remove your negative mindset and win in life. For each fear, Mandie offers practical exercises to help you get beyond it so you can pursue and achieve your goals.

How can you lose $20,000 in five minutes and be happy about it? People think this is a trick question. No one likes to lose money. But with the right approach and by using the Water-to-Wine Hack, any situation, however awful it seems, can become a positive motivational experience. This hack teaches us how to manage the emotions sparked by the inevitable disasters of life: losing money, job termination, grief from the deaths of friends and family, and dozens of more mundane sorrows.

We all know people who always seem to be having a bad day, and other people who are generally upbeat, optimistic, and enthusiastic, despite having the same problems as everyone else.
