NGLA Conference Update
The NGLA Annual Conference, in Pittsburgh, PA from February 27 to March 2, 2014, is just around the corner and we have lots of new exciting opportunities that you won't want to miss!

NGLA Advisors Academy
Thanks to the support of Zeta Tau Alpha and Phi Mu Delta, NGLA is excited to present the NGLA Advisor Academy. The academy will take place during the conference on Saturday, March 1. Registration, including continental breakfast and lunch, will be just $25. Start planning now to send some of the chapter advisors on your campus!
NGLA Annual Conference Registration is Live! 
Registration is now live for the 2014 Northeast Greek Leadership Association Annual Conference. The conference will be held February 27-March 2, 2014 at the Wyndham Grand Downtown in Pittsburgh, PA. Register now and save with early bird registration for NGLA Members at $190.00 per attendee until this offer expires on January 31. The non-member rate is $250.00 per attendee.

Please note that you can always log in later and update any of your information or exchange student attendees. We are happy to offer 1 complimentary advisor registration for every 10 undergraduate students again this year.

New for 2014! 
NGLA Advanced Leadership Summit
Student leaders are often provided with the tools and inspiration to lead change within their chapter or community, but left pondering how to actually make the change happen and sustain it.

The NGLA Advanced Leadership Summit is designed to provide students with a framework for not only recognizing change is necessary, but also how to make it happen. Led by Kim Novak, CEO of Novak Talks, Allison Foster, Alternate NPC Delegate of Alpha Chi Omega, and Will Foran, Vice President of University Relations for the NIC, this Summit will provide an opportunity for student leaders who have taken part in NGLA, or other significant leadership educational programs to drill deeper into meeting the challenges of leading.

So often we focus on what “doing the right thing” is in our leadership programming that we overlook the most essential skill sets; after leaders figure out their personal direction, how do they inspire others to understand the need for change in their community or chapter? Can leaders learn skills to feel empowered to talk deliberately, honestly, and openly with their peers, and to put into practice a process of change based on the factors of relating, repeating, and reframing?

Note: The Summit occurs Friday, February 28 during the afternoon of the NGLA Conference. Participants will be given the opportunity to register in advance. 

New for 2014! NGLA: High Def
NGLA is excited to offer new NGLA: HD programs throughout the conference. These special programs are designed to provide greater clarity and focus on topics relevant to fraternity and sorority leaders. NGLA: HD programs will be offered during the Friday afternoon and Saturday morning program blocks, and participants will be able to sign up in advance to secure their spot for the HD sessions. The following High Def programs are currently being developed:
  • Leadership in HD: Creating your Elevator Pitch
  • Chapter Engagement in HD: Motivating the Middle
  • NPC in HD: Enhancing Panhellenic Leadership
  • IFC Leadership in HD: Optimizing IFC
  • Culturally-Based Organizations in HD: Intake Equation
  • Recruitment in HD: Recruitment Boot Camp
  • Locals in HD: Supporting Local Organizations
NGLA Institute
NGLA is excited to continue to host the NGLA Institute for undergraduate attendees. This program will challenge undergraduates to frame their NGLA experience, goals, and vision for their organizations/councils and create plans for future success. Volunteer facilitators will work in pairs across two sessions to provide a common experience of shared curriculum. This year’s institute will span across 2 sessions on Friday morning from 10:30am - 12:00pm and Saturday afternoon from 4:45pm - 6:00pm.

The NGLA Programming Committee is seeking volunteers to facilitate these sessions. Volunteers should be aware that this time commitment will overlap with the Professionals Institute. Join the Annual Conference Staff Team!
The NGLA Annual Conference is run with the support of a hand picked student volunteer team. This experience is a great opportunity to learn about conference management, meet fellow fraternity & sorority students from all over the northeast and network with higher education and fraternal professionals.

Interested students must complete the application and submit a letter of reference from a fraternity or sorority advisor (for undergraduate students) or a supervisor (for graduate students). All materials are due by December 15, 2013. Please email NGLA volunteer staff coordinator Abby Myette at almyette@gmail.com with any questions.
Conference Hotel Information
The Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown will serve as the conference hotel, and it has undergone significant renovations since the last NGLA annual conference in Pittsburgh in 2007. The hotel now offers more space, has newly renovated rooms, and there are more restaurants nearby for delegation meals.

The NGLA contract hotel rate is $150/night for all occupancies (single, double, triple, quad). We encourage you to book your rooms at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh as soon as possible. Please use the NGLA reservation link to guarantee the NGLA room block rate.

NGLA Annual Conference Scholarships
We are pleased to be able to provide scholarships to attend the Association Conference. Special thanks to those interfraternal partners that support the leadership development of undergraduates in the northeast. Scholarships are available for individuals and for campus delegations. The Discover NGLA scholarship is an amazing opportunity for a campus that has not attended the annual conference in a while to rediscover all that our programming and institute curriculum have to offer. All scholarship applications, including letters of support from the campus fraternity and sorority advisor, are due by January 15, 2014. Apply for an NGLA Award
Each year at the annual conference closing banquet, the Northeast Greek Leadership Association recognizes outstanding chapters, councils, Greek communities and individuals with the presentation of awards. These organizations and individuals through their programs, initiatives and commitment demonstrate the mission of NGLA. Nominate individuals, chapters, councils, or communities for an award. 
  • Amy Vojta Impact Awards
  • Greek Leaders of Distinction for undergraduate student leaders 
  • Phillippi Outstanding Advisor Award (for campus professionals) 
  • Guenzler Outstanding Staff/Volunteer Award (for staff members or volunteers of fraternity/sorority organizations) 
  • Panhellenic Community Impact Award
