AmeriLux International LLC, a value-adding distributor and fabricator of building materials and plastic sheet products, has acquired Shape Products. Shape Products, located in Menomonie, Wisconsin, manufactures standard window wells, egress window wells, and window well covers. The acquisition was finalized on August 1, 2020 and will add to AmeriLux’s focus on providing its customers with creative and cost-effective solutions customized for each unique opportunity.

The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Center for Customized Research and Services normally works with businesses and organizations to learn more about their customers, from assessing their satisfaction to getting feedback on a new product idea. In April, the center drew statewide attention through its

UW-Oshkosh COVID-19 Economic Impact Survey that looked at how businesses were affected by the coronavirus pandemic and resulting economic slowdown.

Jeffrey Sachse, interim director of UW-Oshkosh’s CCRS, developed the survey and shares the insights he’s gained from the results and provides a deeper look at how businesses have been affected long term by COVID-19.

Renewal and growth Calumet County Communities Plan New Developments

Communities across Calumet County are in the midst of multiple projects designed to create more housing, remove blight and move forward with new developments designed to offer fresh, innovative opportunities within the county.

Several major economic development efforts are underway in Brillion, led by the Brillion Works project. Ariens Co. is leading that project, which is clearing away many of the buildings on the property and creating space for new developments. Ariens already has a plant in one of the foundry’s former buildings. Brillion Works also recently signed an agreement with KinderCare, a licensed child care facility with multiple locations.

Census Workers Return

Census workers will be back in the field to collect as many responses as possible for the count of the country’s population. Field operations have been on hold for the Census Bureau during the coronavirus pandemic.

If a census worker cannot reach you at home or on the phone, there are other places like some grocery stores, food pantries and retail businesses where census workers are available.

The census numbers influence the amount of federal dollars available to communities as well as determining the number of congressional representatives.

Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corp. will put Charter Communication’s $1 million investment towards low-interest loans.

WWBIC is an economic development corporation focusing on women, people of color, veterans and low-income individuals. It provides direct lending and access to fair and responsible capital, quality business education, one-on-one technical business assistance and education to increase financial capacity. WWBIC’s average loan size is between $35,000 and $39,000.
