| | Dear Stargazers,
The upcoming Aries full moon on October 16 is another keg of cosmic dynamite, and it comes on the heels of September's inflammatory lunar eclipse which I discussed in the September 11th newsletter.
At that time, I wrote:
I'm not going to mince words: The energy of the upcoming lunar eclipse on September 16th suggests that something is going to end with a BANG! The question is will it sound like a champagne cork or an explosion?
That question was answered the very next day by explosives that were detonated in New Jersey and New York.
I know this isn't what you want to hear, but it may be what you need to know.
However, on a lighter note, since many of you are just starting to learn about astrology, this issue includes a beginner-friendly lesson. Also, given the recent media hoopla (again) about the alleged 13th zodiac sign, I thought this would be a good time to explain why the scientists are wrong, so you can share it with others and help dispel this cosmic myth. |
| | | There are 12 signs in the zodiac. Period.
This time it's NASA scientists who are trying to make people who believe in astrology feel like idiots. I have no problem if it's not their cup of tea; what irks me is that all it takes is 5 minutes of research to learn that astrology isn't based on constellations but on signs and seasons.
Science has been promoting these stories for so many years now that it's impossible to believe that any of these scientists are that lazy, ignorant or stupid. One can only speculate on the reason why they're so threatened by astrology that they stoop so low as to issue press releases that contain false facts. Seriously, why does it bother them if people believe in astrology or enjoy reading horoscopes? Surely they have better things to do, such as focusing on environmental research programs that study air quality and climate change or perhaps watching out for meteors that may come hurtling our way.

| | Astrology Mini-Lesson #1
The Elements
Although each of the 12 zodiac signs has its own distinct personality, some of them share similar traits because they belong to the same energetic group known as an element.
The Basics
There are 4 elements in astrology: Fire, Earth, Air and Water.
Fire represents the spirit. Air symbolizes the mind. Earth represents the physical. Water represents the emotions.
There are 3 signs in each element, which is why they're also known as the triplicities (but elements will do just fine).
The Fire element includes Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. The Earth element includes Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn.
The Air element includes Gemini, Libra, Aquarius.
The Water element includes Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces.
Keywords and Traits
Each elements has its own temperament that includes positive and negative traits. The signs that belong to the same element embody all of them, and through our free will we express those traits for better or worse.
Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)
Keyword: Enthusiastic Positive: Confident, forthright, spontaneous Negative: Impatient, aggressive, self-centered
Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)
Keyword: Practical
Positive: Organized, productive, dependable
Negative: Rigid, possessive, materialistic
Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)
Keyword: Logical Positive: Perceptive, expressive, openminded Negative: Cold, unreliable, superficial
Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)
Keyword: Sensitive Positive: Intuitive, emotional, imaginative Negative: Secretive, manipulative, impressionable
Working with the Elements
Even if you're not familiar with the traits of a person's Sun sign, being familiar with its element can you an immediate glimpse into their nature.
Now, what I'm going to say next may be beyond your astrological ability at the moment, but I feel it's important to share it now so you understand the value of working with elements in the chart.
When it comes to the horoscope, every planet has a zodiac sign, AND every sign has an element that influences its nature.
Adding up the number of planets in each element (and yes, you can include the Rising Sign) can provide significant insight, especially if a person is lacking an element and/or has an overabundance. For example, if a person has 0 or 1 water signs, he/she may at times be insensitive (i.e., show a lack of compassion). On the other hand, if he/she has 5 planets in water signs, he/she may be oversensitive (i.e., takes everything too personally).
The elements can also be used as a starting point for analyzing planets in the horoscope. Remember, every planet in the horoscope is in a sign, and that sign influences how the planet expresses itself (e.g., The Sun in Aries expresses itself differently than the Sun in Pisces).
Since each sign is influenced by its element, that means the element has some influence on the planet as well. Therefore, applying the element's keywords and traits with the nature of the planet provides insight into how that planet expresses its energy.
For example, if the planet is Venus (love) and it's placed in Aries, Leo or Sagittarius, applying the keyword for the Fire element (enthusiasm), it tells you that the person's attitude to romance tends to be enthusiastic.
In fairness, this is a very small part of the analytical process, but when you're beginning the elements can be very helpful. It's a very good starting point for beginners, and the best place to start is with the Sun.
So here's a fun exercise to help you master the elements: Think about the people you know and see if their personalities reflect some of the traits of their sign's elements.

| | October 16: Full Moon at 23° Aries
Right on the heels of last month's inflammatory lunar eclipse is a highly combustible full moon. What adds to its explosive nature is the absence of even a single trine (a strong positive flow) that can act as a release valve.
Although there are two sextiles (an easy but relaxed flow) applying (forming) in this chart, one of them is quite wide (weak).
Calculated for Washington, DC, the Moon falls in the 10th house and the Sun falls in the 4th house of this lunation chart. In a nation's horoscope, this opposition indicates that the government and the citizens will be at odds with each other. The energy of a full moon can bring a matter to light, to a conclusion, to fruition or to a crisis point. In my experience, the event usually occurs during the week leading up to the full moon, and by the time it peaks, we're either celebrating or sorting through the rubble.
With Uranus (instability, extremes, surprising events) in a tight conjunction (combining its energy) with the Moon (the mood of the people) and opposing (challenging) the Sun (the ruling class), emotions can be expected to run high and public opinion will likely be divided. Given its rebellious, unpredictable nature, the influence of Uranus brings in the possibility of anything from a shocking revelation to a peaceful protest to riots to terrorism.
At the time of the full moon, transiting Mars (action, anger, passion) will be approaching a conjunction (will combine its energy) with Pluto (control) in the 6th house. In a nation's chart, the 6th house represents the armed forces and civil servants (e.g., police, firefighters, EMTs). Mars often acts as a trigger, and on October 19 (and well within the orb of its influence), it will conjunct Pluto in the heavens and trigger the Mercury/Pluto square in the lunation chart.
This energy could coincide with news of a destructive event or a military action. If I had to describe this full moon in one word, it would be blindside. Whatever the event may be, the odds are high no one will see it coming. Since this full moon falls right in between the upcoming presidential debates on October 9 (tonight) and October 19, it may well be that the nation witnesses one of the most contentious debates in history.
Generally speaking, full moons place an emphasis on women, and in this chart the Moon is applying a quincunx to Venus that suggests that a woman (or women or a major issue involving women) will be in a very public and very uncomfortable spotlight. Adding to this possibility is the fact that Jupiter (media) in Libra (women) in the 3rd house (communications) is making a quincunx to Neptune (scandals, secrets, deceit, matters from the past) in the 8th house (sex, finances, investigations). Since Jupiter (abundance) is making the aspect, it's likely to dominate the headlines, and given the square from Mercury to Pluto in this chart, whoever leaks the information is going straight for the jugular. However, the Jupiter/Neptune quincunx warns of smoke and mirrors or that it be overblown in some way.
UPDATE: ASTROLOGY IN ACTION
Just two days after writing this section, Trump is in the throes of a major scandal involving women. His campaign was blindsided when an audio from 11 years ago in which Trump had a vulgar discussion about women became public. This scandal places his wife Melania in an uncomfortable public spotlight, as well as television personality Nancy O'Dell who was the married woman that rebuffed him. Public opinion is sharply divided between those who feel the incident is being blown out of proportion and those who feel it's just cause for removing him as the nominee.
As I've repeatedly said, full moon related events often show up before the lunation. In Trump's chart, this full moon will quincunx (awkward, uncomfortable) his natal Venus/Saturn conjunction. Venus, which always represents women, rules his 3rd house of communications and his 10th house of status and reputation, and Saturn, the natural ruler one's status and reputation, rules his fifth house of romantic affairs..
However, the full moon will also trine (a strong positive flow) his Moon (his emotions and ruler of groups in his chart), his Ascendant (him personally) and his Mars (passion, drive) which rules his 8th house of other people's support (voters are supporters), which suggests that Trump isn't feeling deterred by this turn of events and fully intends to stay in the race.
Hillary Clinton
Although it didn't rise to the level of a blindside, the energy of the upcoming full moon has already placed Hillary Clinton (woman) in the spotlight as Wikileaks published excerpts from some of her paid Wall Street speeches that she has consistently refused to make public. The excerpts show a much stronger connection to Wall Street and the wealthy than she and her campaign have led voters to believe by revealing that she has both public and private positions on certain matters to ensure political success.
The upcoming full moon is kinder to Clinton's chart. The quincunx to her natal Mercury (communications) means that she's feeling uncomfortable about the situation, but given that this full moon will sextile her Uranus and trine her Saturn, it's unlikely to do any significant damage to her campaign. Now, there may be other aspects going on (e.g., to the Ascendant or Midheaven) that could contradict this analysis, but since her birth time is unknown, it can't be determined.
The October 9th Debate
The transiting moon is in Capricorn, the sign that rules the 10th house of the zodiac. Given current events, it's a fitting backdrop for this debate because in a nation's chart the 10th house represents the position they both seek: Head of State. In an individual's chart, the 10th house rules one's reputation, and it's a safe bet that they'll both be under attack. The moon will be void of course at the time of the debate, and since void moons typically fail to bring definite results, when all is said and done, nothing much may be accomplished by either side. However, a void moon can also coincide with unintended consequences (e.g., a plan of attack backfires), so it will be interesting to see if that turns out to be the case.
Closing Comments
I know that many of you aren't interested in reading about political astrology. However, it's worth writing about because many of you are interested in the to topic AND it demonstrates the connection between the heavens and life here on the earth.
I am also well aware that this topic is an inflammatory one. To be clear, this article is nothing more than an objective astrological analysis of current events and is in no way, shape or form an editorial supporting or condemning either side. |

The Aries Full Moon & Your Horoscope
No matter how inflammatory or benevolent the energy of a new or full moon may be in the heavens, you may experience its influence as being better or worse than described (and yes, it can be neutral) depending upon how it connects with your personal horoscope.
For example, this Aries Full Moon chart is a combustible one, but if it's connecting in your chart with planets or sensitive points in Leo or Sagittarius, it can serve as a surge of energy that will bring something to a successful conclusion.
For Everyone
If you're at a crossroads in any area of your life, you're likely to feel an urgent need to make a decision. This is especially true if you've been on the fence about a relationship. While this may be a romantic relationship, it can just as easily involve a friend, business partner, co-worker or family member. With Uranus, a planet of separation, playing such a pivotal role in this full moon, its energy can bring a relationship to a sudden (and possibly dramatic) end. If it ends because you suddenly feel you can't stand it for another minute or are blindsided by news of some type of betrayal, it's unlikely that you'll part promising to stay friends. If an argument arises at this time, try to rein in your emotions because matters can escalate quickly under this influence. Although Uranus-inspired break-ups are often temporary, the influence of the full moon strongly suggests that it will be final.
Shifting gears, if you hear rumors or gossip around this time, you'd be wise not to repeat it. Besides the fact that it may turn out to be exaggerated, the volatile energy of this full moon suggests there's a good chance it will come back to bite you.
For Your Sun Sign
Since a full moon involves the Sun and the Moon, it falls across two houses in the horoscope. The house that holds the Moon is where the action is in your chart, and something related to one (or more) of the life areas ruled by it may come to fruition, a crossroads or an ending.
However, while the Moon is light up one house, the Sun will be lighting up the opposite one. Since houses work in pairs, you should consider the life areas ruled by the opposite house as well.
If you don't know which house holds 23° of Aries in your horoscope, you can refer to the below to find out which house the full moon falls in your solar chart.
If your Sun sign is Aries, it falls in your 1st house (your physical body, attitude towards life).
Read the 7th house as well.
If your Sun sign is Taurus, it falls in your 12th house (spirituality, creativity, mental health, addictions). Read the 6th house as well.
If your Sun sign is Gemini, it falls in your 11th house (groups, associations, hopes, casual friends, colleagues). Read the 5th house as well.
If your Sun sign is Cancer, it falls in your 10th house (career, fame, status, reputation). Read the 4th house as well.
If your Sun sign is Leo, it falls in your 9th house (education, law, religion, foreign and long-distance travel, publishing). Read the 3rd house as well.

From October 17 through October 29, you can use the waning energy of the moon to help you release unwanted beliefs, traits or circumstances from your life.
Although you can release anything under any full moon, since this one is saturated in Aries its energy is especially help for letting go of negative beliefs about your body, your ambition or your leadership ability.
In terms of traits, the Aries full moon supports the release of any tendencies to be impatient, impulsive, reckless, egotistical, hotheaded or a bully. |

Best Days
While there are other days this month without challenging energy, these dates are the best of the bunch. What do I mean by the best? The energy is flowing, the moon isn't void and there's a greater likelihood for happy and/or productive outcomes.
The best days this month are 10, 11, 12, 23, 27, 30. Oct. 31 is good up until 10:44 PM EDT.
Best Avoided
The energies on these days are either challenging, combative or unpredictable. If you must schedule something, you may have to think on your feet, or there may be a need for patience or flexibility.
October 13, 15, 19, 20, 25, 29.
