Networking is one of the most important things you can do to build your business and advance your career. Check out the Nurse Business Insider Tip below to feel more comfortable while networking. Our first article of interest gives you 8 Powerful Referral Strategies That Will Double Your Sales. We are all in sales, regardless of our setting, and these 8 strategies will have you feeling good about it. Many nurses are good writers because they are great subject matter experts. The 7 Things Writers Need To Do Make a Living outlines the necessary traits to be a well-paid writer. And, our last article, How This 13-Year-Old Entrepreneur Built a Multi-Million Dollar Candy Company will have you thinking "why didn’t I think of that?" I believe we often let our adult minds sabotage us and we tend to overthink situations. Kids don’t have this baggage and are freer in thinking of possibilities. Think about the movie “Big” with Tom Hanks; and ask yourself what your inner child would think about a situation. You may be surprised how the kid in you will answer! Don’t forget to visit our sponsors below and I am looking forward to seeing many of you in Las Vegas in 27 days!

Unconventionally yours,

Michelle

Successful Networking: Networking is one the most important things you can do to grow your business. It is one of the top five reasons that nurses join and stay in the NNBA, https://nnbanow.com/join-the-nnba/. Especially nurses that have been members of the NNBA for several years. So, here are some essentials for networking that you directly apply to your business:
  • Figure out a way to make the relationship mutually beneficial. If you are always asking your contact for something, and never giving them anything back, they will stop answering. It is critical that you understand how you can add real value to the relationship.
  • Develop a manageable target list of contacts that would mean the most to your business, and work to develop authentic relationships with those people.
  • Find the right events, functions, and networking opportunities where the people you want to be around attend. (#NNBA2018!) And have a game plan for what you want to accomplish at the function (# of people to meet, specific people to meet, etc).
  • Be sure you are the one to follow up. Very few of us follow up to foster relationships. Send them an article you think they would like. Invite them to a social function where you do things other than just talk business. Find out what their real interests are in life, and do something to support those interests.
Being successful at networking is not that difficult, and the benefits far outweigh any concerns. Nurses are good at building relationships, and when you boil it down, relationships are the core of networking. The real capital you need to start and grow your business is relationship capital. Investing in relationships will have more results for you than any other capital! Relationships lead to more referrals, customer satisfaction, and over all fulfillment.

Love them or hate them, referrals are one of the most crucial components of a successful inbound sales strategy. In fact, there’s no more reliable way to grow any business than through sourcing referrals -- but only if it's done in a systematic, smart way.

Unfortunately, most salespeople use outdated, hit-or-miss methods to get referrals. It’s no wonder that referrals inspire dread -- and procrastination -- for so many.

But referrals don’t have to be the bane of your existence. Instead, they can transform your sales for the better. The following eight referral strategies, when implemented systematically as part of your sales approach, can double your sales within one year.
If you’re a writer, you might have heard this most of your life:

People don’t make a living writing. You should find something practical to do with your life.

Smart, capable writers grimly pass around war stories on Facebook. Penny-a-word assignments, clients who don’t pay, disdain for our craft, and disrespect for our profession.

And yet, look around at this digital world so many of us spend our lives in. It’s made of words. The technology to produce digital content exists because we create words worth sharing.

Text, video, audio — it all needs great writing if it’s going to be worth spending our time on.
Just 30 miles northwest of Detroit is the headquarters of a multimillion-dollar candy company called Zollipops. It’s housed in a plain-looking warehouse, containing little more than boxes and boxes of sugar-free lollipops, hard candy and taffy that’s sold online and in more than 7,500 stores, and is overseen by a team of six full-time employees and several independent contractors. But down a hall, fluorescent lights make way for the real magic of the place: a corner office decorated with sparkling pink dance trophies, paintings of smiling suns and construction-paper family trees -- the handiwork of the company’s founder and CEO, 13-year-old Alina Morse.
