We Wish You A Happy Holiday Season

Looking back on 2013, the Steering Committee of the Friends of the Middle River is proud of the progress we made this year.
With the help of many "Friends" volunteers, we were able to accomplish a lot in 2013:
- We completed our benthic monitoring at nine locations on Middle River in the spring, summer and fall.
- In the spring, we held classes to train more benthic monitors.

We sponsored a booth at Earth Day in Staunton and at Riverfest in
Waynesboro, and we took guests on boat rides throughout the day at Riverfest.
- We held a clean-up of Lewis Creek in Staunton in cooperation with visiting artist Aurora Robson and her Mary Baldwin College art class.
- We held a "Critter Catch" day along Middle River near Ft. Defiance in July.

- Our first "Splash 'n Dash" canoe/kayak race was held near Ft. Defiance in September.
- Our annual "Friends Fest" barbeque picnic along Middle River near Verona this October was attended by 110 guests.
In 2014, we plan to build on the success we had in 2013, and we hope you will continue to support FOMR in 2014.
