Subject: NCC Climate Change newsletter - February 2021

Welcome to your monthly edition of our Climate Change newsletter!

As you may already know, last summer Northumberland County Council declared a climate emergency. Since then we have laid out clear objectives to help tackle climate change in Northumberland.

Cutting the council's carbon emissions in half by 2025.
Making Northumberland carbon neutral by 2030.
It’s not going to be easy, and we'll need everyone to get involved and do their bit to help reduce Northumberland’s carbon emissions. We have set out a detailed action plan for the next few years to help give us the best opportunity to meet these ambitious goals, and how we can fight climate change together.

Look through our seven priority action areas for climate change. Where can you help make a difference? 👇👇👇

Climate Change Q&A, 17 March 5pm

Following our inaugural Q&A webinar last month, we are planning additional sessions that will focus on each of our seven priority action areas giving us the opportunity to answer questions in more detail. And we’re kicking off with a Renewable Energy Q&A on 17 March, 5pm-6pm.

Council Leader Glen Sanderson will be chairing the session, with a panel of our climate change team answering your questions on the night.

Local Authority Delivery bid

To support the residents of Northumberland to move to lower carbon living the Council has been successful with a bid to central government for the implementation of low carbon technology.

Partnering with Eon, the £3.4m scheme will support the wider Green Homes Grant voucher scheme and enable fuel poor homes to access additional measures and support.

We are also planning to bid for the next round of funding, which will enable us to extend the programme even further.
