Youth Apprenticeship Program Earns Praise

The contractor, Boldt, says recruiting youth apprentices is about keeping an eye on the future.
"It's taking high school students and allowing them to balance their school workload and then have time to be working on site on a project, and in our case, on a construction project. It's really important that we recruit being that we're going to have multiple, multiple jobs available as our wonderful, experienced people retire," says Ginelle Hussin, Boldt Director of Talent Management.

Three global business leaders with ties to Northeast Wisconsin highlight the program for the 16th annual New North Summit, set for Dec. 5, at the KI Convention Center in Green Bay.
Speakers Kim Underhill of Kimberly-Clark North America, Fred Stephan of Amcor and David Beurle of Future iQ will follow the popular “ED Talk” format, the New North’s version of TED Talks, focusing on economic development themes from the perspective of business leaders. The speakers engage the audience through a storytelling format to expose them to new ideas.

Intermodal Summit
The Wisconsin DOT has asked New North to pull together an intermodal summit for the New North region. This will be held on Monday, November 11, 2019 from 12:30 – 4 p.m. at the Bordini Center in Appleton. There is no cost but pre-registration is required.
