Startup Week in the New North Region Leading to HATCH Pitch Event at the 2019 New North Summit Eight entrepreneurs will pitch their ideas to a team of judges during the afternoon of the New North Summit on Dec. 5. The first-place winner will receive $5,000, and the second-place winner will receive $3,000. BrightStar, a nonprofit organization that invests in early-stage companies, will fund the event’s prizes. Two contestants from four local Hatch contests, which will be held during Startup Wisconsin Week, Nov. 11-17, will win the right to compete during the Hatch event at the New North Summit.

Regional Event Intermodal Summit Nov. 11 Intermodal Summit addresses freight industry’s top issues Free event is collaboration between New North Inc. and Wisconsin Department of Transportation New North Inc. will host an Intermodal Summit, open to all businesses that have an interest in intermodal freight as part of their transportation needs. The goal of the Summit is to build relationships between the region’s freight-dependent businesses and the transportation service providers. “Companies that attend will discuss the business models of major railroads, overseas shipping companies and other transportation providers. They also will explore what resources are available to help develop strategies to make intermodal service economically viable,” says Barb LaMue, executive director of New North Inc.
