POLICY NEWS
On 9 January 2019, Dutch authorities have officially handed over the temporary building, the Spark building in Amsterdam Sloterdijk, to European Medicines Agency’s Executive Director, Guido Rasi.
On 19 December the European Medicines Agency (EMA) published its strategic reflection paper on Regulatory Science to 2025.
On 30 January 2019, the Expert Panel on Effective ways of investing in Health (EXPH) published its final report on Assessing the impact of digital transformation of health services, providing the Commission with advice on the impact of the digitalisation of health services.
Following the start of the Romanian Presidency, several Romanian Ministers were invited to introduce the Presidency’s priorities in European Parliament’s Committees.
Romania took over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union - which gathers the Ministries of the Member States - on 1 January 2019, for the first time since its accession to the European Union in 2007.
The Council Presidency published on 4 January its proposal for the draft Council conclusions on the Coordinated plan on the development and use of Artificial Intelligence Made in Europe

Himanshu Kaul, our member from University of Toronto, reports the study of a new drug that reduces airway muscle mass in severe asthmatics. The strength of this work is the integration of findings from in vivo clinical trials and in vitro and computational models, demonstrating the key role of in silico clinical trials in the design of new drugs.
