On Seeing Jesus – by Toni Babcock

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new," (II Corinthians 5:17 KJV).

There was a popular bumper sticker and slogan recently that read "Start seeing Motorcycles". The obvious concern, to avoid life-threatening collisions with motorcycles, start recognizing and respecting their presence on the highway.

As Christians, we are traveling on the King's Highway. Have you considered the threat to the church and to one another by not seeing Jesus? Jesus will have words with those who claim to have never seen him where He was. "For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me not in; naked, and ye clothed me not; sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me," (Matthew 25:42-45 KJV).

God give us the grace to see Jesus in one another, even when we are not living up to all God has called us to be. So often all we need is faith: one another's faith. Who knows but faith in Christ on one another's behalf, expressed in living words and loving deeds, will be just the impetus we need to get back on track and start believing in ourselves as new creatures in Christ to the glory of God our Savior. May God help us.
